Kindle cases with a hand strap for one-handed reading
The strap is a vertical elastic band on the inside back panel, sewn at the top and the bottom. You slide your hand in sideways and the Kindle presses against your palm. It sounds like a small thing until you've read standing on a train, lying on your side in bed, or holding a coffee — those are the three situations people buy it for.
Does the strap get in the way when the case is closed?
No. It sits flat against the interior back panel, which is the side facing away from the screen when the cover is shut, so the case still closes flush and the magnets still hold. You'll feel a very slight thickness through the back panel when you grip it; most people stop noticing within a day.
Which Kindles this works with
Every case here is made in 7" (2024–2025 Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature, Colorsoft Signature), 6.8" (2021–2023 Paperwhite) and 6.0" (11th gen Kindle, 2022 and 2024). The strap is the same on all three sizes, which means on the 6.0" it holds a lighter device and grips more firmly, and on the 7" it's a slightly more relaxed fit. If you have small hands, the 6.0" is the more comfortable one-handed read by a clear margin. Not sure which you own? The size guide takes about fifteen seconds.
Where it doesn't help
A hand strap is not a stand. If what you actually want is the Kindle propped up on a kitchen counter while you cook, no case in this collection will do that — the cover doesn't fold back into a triangle. It's also elastic, which means it will relax over a year or two of daily use; it stays functional, but it won't be as tight as it was on day one. And it's fixed, not adjustable — there's no buckle.
The strap comes as standard on almost the entire range, so you're picking a print here, not paying extra for a feature.
