How to Clean an iPad Case
The care label is three lines long and all three matter. Here is what they mean in practice.
What to use
A soft cotton or microfibre cloth, damp with water. Wring it out until it is barely wet, wipe in one direction, and let the case air-dry before you put the iPad back in. That is the whole method, and it handles the marks a case actually picks up — desk dust, bag scuff, a thumbprint on the back.
The Saffiano finish is a fine cross-hatch, so it holds a little more dust in the grain than a smooth surface would. A dry brush of the cloth first, then the damp pass, saves you going over it twice.
What not to use
Nothing with alcohol in it
This is the important one, and it is the instruction most often ignored because a wipe feels gentler than a spray. Hand sanitiser, surface spray, disinfectant wipes, nail polish remover: high-alcohol liquids lift the print off the case. Not stain it — lift it. The damage shows up as a pale patch where the design used to be, and it does not come back.
Keep oil and makeup off it
Foundation, hand cream and sunscreen all mark vegan PU, and unlike a fabric case it will not wash out. If something gets on the back, wipe it with a damp cloth straight away rather than letting it sit.
Keep it out of direct sunlight
A dashboard, a windowsill, a sun lounger. Prolonged direct sun yellows the case body over time, and that is the material going amber rather than the print fading. It is the single most common complaint against vegan PU and TPU cases generally, and it is entirely avoidable.
This is not a beach product and we would rather say so than sell you one for a holiday it will not survive.
What about the Apple Pencil cutaway?
Same cloth, same water. The cutaway is an open edge rather than an enclosed slot, so there is nothing to dry out — just wipe along it and let the case air-dry open.
What about the inside?
The inner bumper is shock-absorbing TPU with a microfibre lining. Lift the iPad out every few weeks and give the lining a dry wipe; grit that gets trapped between the microfibre and the back of the device is what causes fine scratches, not the case itself.
