How to Use Your iPad Case as a Stand

The front cover is one piece with two creases in it. Fold it back and those creases do the work — there is nothing to clip, snap or attach.

How to fold the case into a stand

  1. Open the cover fully and lay the case flat.
  2. Fold the cover back on itself, towards the back of the case, so the creases form a triangle.
  3. Stand it up with the triangle behind the case, taking the weight.

Two angles, not one

Which crease you fold on decides the angle. The shallower fold gives a low, upright position — the one you want in front of a keyboard or on a video call. The deeper fold leans the iPad further back, which is the watching position.

Where it works and where it does not

It holds on any flat, firm surface — a desk, a kitchen counter, an aeroplane tray. What it will not do is stand on your lap or on a duvet, because the fold needs something solid underneath to push against.

Does it stand in portrait as well as landscape?

Landscape is what the fold is designed for and where it is stable. Portrait is less forgiving — use landscape when it matters.

Will it loosen over time?

A folded cover is a crease under repeated stress, and a crease is where any printed case eventually shows wear first. Store the case closed rather than permanently folded back and it keeps its shape far longer.

What about the Apple Pencil?

The cutaway along the edge stays clear whether the case is open, closed or folded into a stand, so the Pencil keeps charging while the iPad is propped up. There is no slot to push it into — the case simply does not cover the magnetic charging strip.

Every iPad case we make folds into a stand — it is not a feature reserved for one model. See the full range.
