Kindle 11th vs 12th Generation: Which Case Fits?
If you are trying to buy a case and the listings keep saying "11th generation" and "12th generation" without explaining what that means for you, here is the whole thing in one page. The short version: generation is not the same as screen size, and the 11th generation covers two very different Kindles. Get that one distinction right and everything else follows.
Find your generation in fifteen seconds
- On your Kindle, tap the three dots in the top right.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Device Options.
- Tap Device Info.
- Read the line marked Device Type.
No Kindle to hand? The model is also printed in very small type on the back of the device, near the bottom edge.
What each generation actually is
11th generation — and why it's two different Kindles
This is the part that catches people out. The 11th generation is not one device. It covers two:
- Kindle Paperwhite (11th generation), released 2021 and sold through 2023, plus Paperwhite Kids and the Signature Edition of those years — 6.8" screen. Our case fits it.
- Kindle (11th generation), the basic model from 2022 and 2024, plus Kindle Kids — 6.0" screen. Our case does not fit it.
So "I have an 11th generation Kindle" is not enough information to buy a case. You need to know whether it says Paperwhite.
12th generation — the 2024–2025 Paperwhite
Released late 2024: a bigger 7" screen, a faster page turn, a slightly larger body. The Paperwhite Signature Edition of the same generation is the same size, and so is the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. Our case fits all three — see Paperwhite cases.
10th generation and older
The 2018 Paperwhite is 6.0" with a different body shape, and the Oasis is different again. We don't currently make cases for either.
One case, two Paperwhites
The 6.8" and 7" Paperwhites look nearly identical, and most cases are cut for one or the other. Ours is made to take both: a magnetic panel holds the Kindle in place rather than a shell cut to one exact outline. That's why there's no size to pick on our product pages — if Device Info says Paperwhite or Colorsoft, you're covered.
It's still worth the thirty seconds to check Device Info before ordering, because the one Kindle it won't fit — the basic 6" model — is the one most often mistaken for a Paperwhite.

Every design, both Paperwhites
Every design in the shop fits both the 6.8" and 7" Paperwhite, so the generation you own limits the fit, not the choice. Start from all Kindle cases.
