What does debossed actually look like?

The letters are stamped into the Saffiano cross-hatch surface, so they read as a recessed indent that shadows at an angle. Nothing is added on top: no foil, no metallic ink, nothing that can lift or flake. That makes it hard-wearing and quiet. It also makes it genuinely subtle — a three-letter monogram on a dark cover is close to invisible in flat overhead light and only shows properly when the case moves. If you want the initials to be the first thing anyone notices, choose a lighter cover, or look at the full-name designs, where the longer word gives the eye more to catch.

Two initials or three?

Both work. Two letters sit larger and read more clearly from a distance; three is the traditional monogram and suits the heritage-leaning covers in Maison Noir better. We set them exactly as you type them, in the order you type them — we don't rearrange initials into the classic first-last-middle monogram order, so if you want that arrangement, type it that way.

Before you order
