Gothic Kindle cases for fantasy and romantasy readers

Cathedral arches, moths, tarot iconography, candlelit libraries, night gardens and dragons-adjacent darkness. Enchanted Library, Forest Witch Moth, Candlelit Library, The Reader Tarot and Dark Academia are the ones this collection is built around. Deep greens, oxblood, ink-black and antique gold, with almost nothing pastel.

Why the darker covers hold up better

A near-black or deep-green ground hides the fingerprint smudging that collects along the opening edge, and it hides corner rub. This is the collection that still looks right after a year of being carried loose. The trade-off runs the other way for lettering: a debossed name on a very dark cover is subtle to the point of near-invisible in flat light. If you're personalizing, a mid-tone cover shows the pressed lettering far better — see the personalized name designs.

Does the artwork go around the back?

No — the print is on the front cover only and the back panel is matte black. On a gothic design that's less of a compromise than it sounds, because black is where these covers were headed anyway.

Fit and features

Made in 7", 6.8" and 6.0": the 2024–2025 Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature and Colorsoft Signature take the 7"; the 2021–2023 Paperwhite takes the 6.8"; the 11th-gen Kindle takes the 6.0". Magnets sleep and wake the screen as you close and open the cover, and there's an elastic hand strap on the inside back panel for reading one-handed at two in the morning, which is when most of these books get read. Check Device Info on your Kindle or use the size guide first.
